The S-28 occurrence is located on an un-named south- south east– flowing tributary of the Raft River, east of Wells Grey Park and north of Richie Creek.

The area is underlain by metasedimentary rocks of the Precambrian-Paleozoic(?) Shuswap Metamorphic Complex consisting of quartz-feldspar-hornblende gneiss, amphibolite, calc-silicate gneiss and minor quartzite and marble. The metasediments are cut by pegmatites and granitic intrusives.

The general structure of the area is an east-facing succession folded into a broad open, east- plunging synform. Locally, the structures are complex, resulting in dip reversals and repetition and omission of lithologies.

Locally, interbedded chlorite-calcite schist, quartz-sericite schist and quartz-graphite schist predominate and host 1 to 2- centimetre wide, bedded(?) sphalerite bands. In 1982, a rock sample (SE 310) assayed 1.59 per cent zinc (Property File - S. Enns, A. Winkler [1983-02-01]: Final Report 1982 Geochemical Survey Kootenay Arc Tungsten Project, Kidd Creek Mines).

In 1982, Kidd Creek Mines completed regional geochemical sampling and prospecting on the area as part of the Kootenay Arc Tungsten project.
